Stocking Stuffers

There may be no gift quite as personal as an original piece of art, even if we do say so ourselves. But that doesn’t mean you’re expected to buy the next statement piece for your mother-in-law’s newly renovated hallway, nor does it mean that you need to break the bank for the family secret santa. We’ve collated a selection of some of our favourite pieces that are small in size but big in heart. Affordable and down-right adorable, these smaller artworks may just help you to tick off some of that Christmas shopping list. Enjoy!

Sweet, fun and ready to frame!

1988 Woodcut - Kite Flying

As the National symbol of Scotland, thistles are know to stand for bravery and luck. A very lovely sketch with great meaning.

S. M. Durban - Framed 1977 Gouache Study of a Thistle

Handsome chaps on handsome horses. A small but charismatic piece!

Miniature Late 19th Century Pen and Ink Drawing - Gentlemen's Meeting

While it’s not the overall theme of the still life study, we can’t help but see glimpses of Christmas cheer in the fun patterns and warm palette of this Jemma Jamie piece.

Jemma Jamie - Framed Contemporary Gouache Colourful Still Life with a Jug

A very proud gentleman whose silhouette really does say it all! A very fine miniature indeed.

Mid 19th Century Paper Cut - Silhouette Portrait of a Gentleman

I can’t think of anyone who would be disappointed if presented with this rosy cheeked young lady. She’s a studio favourite!

Early 19th Century Watercolour - Young Lady From Switzerland

A stocking filler of a stocking filler!

Tom Elliot (b.1965) - Framed Contemporary Oil The Satsuma

Snow themed, small and mid century, this Swiss landscape ticks all of the stocking filler boxes!

F.R. - Mid 20th Century Watercolour Alpine Spring

We love the pattern in this gouache study. Popped in a colourful frame it would make a very welcome addition to a gallery wall.

20th Century Gouache - Snowdropss

This little Hungarian watercolour holds so much detail in such a small piece. The patterns and the colour palette are exquisite.

Valér Ferenczy (1885-1954) - Hungarian School Early 20th Century Etching Jugs

It’s impossible not to love this little soldier! Who would feel extremely patronised if he could read this caption.

19th Century India Ink - French Military Leader

We consider it a double win when the frame is just as interesting as the artwork. What a great shape!

Framed Early 19th Century Watercolour - The Seated Squire
